All Glories to Sri Sri Gaur Nitai!
By the causeless mercy of Sri sri Gaur Nitai, a long cherished dream of Orlando is finally coming true. Orlando is one of the fastest growing cities in US and a hot spot for tourists. Still, Orlando did not have an ISKCON temple, unlike most other cities in US. Devotees have been striving for past 10 years to have a place of their own, in the mean time conducting regular programs in rented Hindu temple halls. By the mercy of Srila Prabhupada HH Trivikrama Swami came to Orlando in 2003 and kindly made Orlando his base, focusing on preaching in University of Central Florida which is the 6th largest University in country. UCF with about 45,00 students is a promising and fertile avenue for preaching. Maharaj very expertly made things properly structured- he established a functioning temple board as well as systemetised the program schedules. He started regular discussion of Sri Bhagavad Gita on Wednesday evening, which is well attended as well as an enlivening Sunday Love Feast. Still, everyone strongly felt the need for a temple to boost our preaching activities as well as a base for all devotional services.
Devotees have been working earnestly under the guidance of Maharaj to establish a new temple. Even though we have been seeing many properties, nothing fructified until now. Sri Sri Gaur Nitai has most mercifully chose a place for Their Residence finally, just a mile away from UCF. The property is 7.2 acres total, with 4 acres usable (3 acres are wet land) with a large house on it. The property is situated on the east side of the town and is well connected by the main roads (SR 50, 408 and 417). . The house has two large halls, three bedrooms, kitchen and two bathrooms. At present the house is being converted to a temple with a beautiful altar room in a large temple room, pujari room and pujari kitchen, a devotee kitchen with a prasadam hall and three bedrooms for Maharaj and devotees to stay.
A life size murti of Srila Prabhupada and beautiful marble temple deities of Sri Sri Gaura Nitai has already arrived in Orlando and are waiting to be installed. By the blessings of Srila Prabhupada and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai we are planning to install these beautiful Gaura Nitai deities soon. We plan to start having regular programs at this property and our first program will be on the auspicious occasion of Gaura Purnima on the 21st of this month. Orlando has an immense potential for preaching, with a large and increasing population along with thousands of tourists visiting every year. The current house is a temporary temple and we plan to build a beautiful Vedic temple complete with Govinda’s restaurant, a gift shop and a guest house. This is a great way to preach as well- since a myriad varity of people come as tourists everyday here. By the mercy of Sri Sri Gaur Nitai, the temple can attract numerous souls just by its transcendental charisma. But just as any project we need financial assistance to develop this project.
